Extreme bookmarking and managing your apps: Google Chrome

Chrome – Your Browser’s Bookmarks

This “should” be obvious, but I’ve learned that what’s obvious to me isn’t always obvious to everyone else. And, no, that’s not saying I am smarter than others; it just means I think differently.

Using my Mighty Networks example, if this WERE my preferred method (it isn’t), then I would have a folder in Chrome called “Mighty Networks Communities,” and bookmark each network’s feed within that folder.

This keeps it pretty simple, but it’s not as dynamic as other systems you can set up.

You should definitely be using your browser bookmarks, but not for everything. The system of folders and subfolders will get hard to manage if you plan on bookmarking every article you want to read.

Browser bookmarks are great for the big picture stuff, but when it gets more granular, you need something else. Look for something that gives you more dimensions, so that you can organize, categorize, and easily reference what you’re looking for when you need it.

By the way, Microsoft Edge’s bookmarks are pretty slick looking:

I’ve read a lot of articles this year that talked about how Edge was designed to be a “Chrome Killer,” and I know some people who have made the switch. I haven’t switched, but this may be one of the first Microsoft products in a really long time that I would consider switching to, especially if Chrome starts to fail me for some reason.
