In a series of articles, Firm of the Future asked several bookkeepers “What kinds of skills and experience do you need to be a successful bookkeeper for your clients?”

Here’s what Pat Hartley of Accounting on the GO said:

A successful bookkeeper must know some basic accounting – a basic understanding, along with some basic business knowledge will contribute to a successful relationship with the business and the bookkeeper. Having stated expectations at the very beginning of the engagement will also enhance the experience.
