Your clients expect expert advice on how to set their businesses up for success. “Success” – for our purposes today – is getting their businesses up and running, with the ability to receive payment from their clients quickly, easily and accurately. There are numerous credit card processing solutions on the market promising to fulfill this need. But, do they deliver?
Tiffany J. Stewart, CPA, an Advanced Certified ProAdvisor® for QuickBooks® Online, graciously took time to answer this question and discuss what she has found to be the best products for her clients, as well as for her own business.
“I’ve used everything. But not everything has worked well for me,” Stewart says. The ones that have worked well, however, do exactly what she and her clients need them to do. She lays out the reasons she uses the three products below.
Square
In this case, it’s true that “It’s hip to be square.” Stewart feels you will find value in using Square as your credit card processor.
Square accepts major credit cards at the same rate with no monthly fees. You can view deposits quickly, within one to two business days. PCI compliant and payment dispute assistance are also factors for choosing it. Plus, you can create a new account in seconds, saving time and headaches that often arise in figuring out sales, billing and payment procedures.
Stewart points out that she only uses it occasionally as a stand-alone option without using the integration option, but for her clients, the ability to start selling immediately and the ease of use are clear benefits.
Dream Payments
Dream Payments is another product Stewart uses. “Dream Payments is my new favourite for in-person situations, such as when clients come in to sign tax returns. They are all in awe of the product. It works really well.”
She considers Dream Payments to be a straightforward option for everybody. Users can process transactions wherever they are at any time through their mobile devices. Stewart notes everything is entered automatically. Also, Dream Payments integrates with QuickBooks Online (QBO), which means information updates immediately – record taxes, sales, fees and tips, without effort on your part. In addition, the QBO integration opens up the door for managing inventory in real-time, reporting options, analytics and processing payroll, among many other things.
“I really love that you can search and find the invoices that are outstanding. It’s all right there. You just click, bring them up and pass them over the terminal. The consumer can just swipe or tap their card. It’s really secure and automatically records the payment into QBO,” Stewart says.
QuickBooks Payments
Stewart also recommends QuickBooks Payments to her clients. “I love QBO payments. Once it’s up and running, it’s a sweet integration with QuickBooks Online. It’s really a great option for clients.”
With QuickBooks Payments, users can expect to receive payment quickly using a ‘Pay Now’ button that’s placed directly on invoices, which allows customers to pay online. It also allows you to see when customers view the invoice and when they pay it. Stewart considers it a no-brainer for her and for her clients. She says, “It almost lets you be on autopilot. Once clients get into the habit of clicking the ‘Pay Now’ button, or have their credit card set up, then it’s done and I move on. And, it’s great to get the emails from QuickBooks Payments telling me that I got paid!”
In addition, QuickBooks Payments mobile application offers timely and office-free payment management. Take care of your accounting processes whenever you need to from wherever you happen to be.
Set Your Business Up for Success
Businesses that embrace these automated processing products benefit from the speed with which they receive payment. Stewart feels the value you receive is worth the fee you pay.
